Empowering Ghanaian Youth to Become Eco-Entrepreneurs and Environmental Leaders!

Led by World Inspiring Network in partnership with Engagement Global through its ASA Program, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GlobalGiving, 10 Billion Strong, and other partners, the Green Action Project aims at empowering 30 young Ghanaians to become eco-entrepreneurs and environmental leaders. As part of the project, selected participants would receive 6 weeks virtual training, engage in community development projects, and present their ideas at the Green Action Summit.

Applicant Criteria:

  • Applicants must be citizens of Ghana.
  • Applicants must be residents of Ghana.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of a high school education.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • Applicants must be available to participate in the program for its entire duration.
  • Applicants must demonstrate innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants must be willing to start a green business or have a existing business that is not older than 2 years.

Application Process

We have a three-stage application process to ensure applicants and their businesses are at the right stage of their journey and are able to gain the most benefit from the programme.

Stage 1: Written Application

Please check that you meet the criteria mentioned above. If you do, then complete the application form.

Stage 2: Sreening

The selection team would screen applicants based on the answers they have provided to ensure the best participants are selected.

Stage 3: Final Selection

Shortlisted applicants from Stage 2 will be sent an invitation to join the program. They will have 48hrs to accept the invitation. If we do not receive the acceptance, we will invite the next applicant on the list to join the program.

Non-refundable Commitment Fee (Scholarship Slots Available)

To ensure the Green Action Project becomes sustainable and to attract only serious participants to join the program, selected applicants are required to pay a non-refundable fee of GH₵350. This fee is payable within 1 week of acceptance into the program. Failure to make the payment within the specified timeframe may result in the offer being withdrawn. By making this payment, participants demonstrate their commitment to the program and their seriousness about participating in the Green Action Project.

Course Outline:

Explore the course outline, carefully designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and expertise needed to succeed in the green economy. Our curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from climate change and environmental literacy to business planning, pitch development, and community engagement, preparing you to launch or grow a thriving green business.

Week 1: Introduction to Climate Change
and Green Entrepreneurship.

Understanding Climate Change, Causes and Effects, Intro to Green Entrepreneurship, the role of green businesses in addressing climate change.

Week 2: Environmental Literacy and
Sustainability.

Environmental systems and resource management, Sustainable Development Goals, principles of environmental impact assessment.

Week 3: Developing Green Business
Ideas.

Identifying local environmental challenges and opportunities, brainstorming and idea generation, market research and feasibility analysis.

Week 4: Business Planning and
Development.

Writing a Business Plan, Financial Planning and Forecasting, Marketing and Sales Strategies, Legal and Regulatory Considerations.

Week 5: Pitching & Presentation
Skills.

Crafting Compelling Pitches, Effective Communication Techniques, Presentation Delivery Skill.

Week 6: Climate Action and Community
Engagement.

Becoming a Climate Ambassador, Raising awareness about climate change, Community engagement strategies, Developing and delivering workshops.

The main objective of the Green Action Project is to empower 30 youths in Ghana to establish green businesses and become Green Action Leaders, thereby fostering environmental sustainability, economic growth, and community resilience in the face of climate change.

Green Action Leaders are participants of the Green Action Project who will be trained and mentored to lead grassroots initiatives on climate change adaptation and mitigation in their communities.

The Green Action Summit is the culminating event of the Green Action Project, bringing together over 300 young leaders, experts, and stakeholders to showcase the achievements of Green Action Leaders and discuss sustainable development.

During the Green Action Summit, participants pitch their green business ideas to a panel of judges, and the top five ideas are selected for further support and development.
